The Beijing Center: Semester and Full Year Abroad
I was gone for a year. I'm still processing what I learned. But I know, no matter what, it was worthwhile. Everyone should study abroad. I've never done anything so challenging and eye opening.

Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
The one weakness of TBC. The language classes were good, but I KNOW there are better language programs out there, ones that are more intensive. TBC's other classes were amazing, and the Chinese classes weren't bad but I think there just wasn't enough active engagement with language from students outside the classroom. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Intermediate |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Advanced |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | Engage with the community. Meet with your tutor often, and don't be afraid to be friends with them-- they'll take you out to meet their friends, and you'll get to hear more Chinese. |
