Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The professors were experts in their fields. The one negative was that the time spent in the classroom was not used efficiently.

It was rather small and overpriced.

Restaurants around UIBE were very cheap.

My Chinese tutor and friends were kind to assist me.

* Safety:

Beijing is the most safest city I have ever been to. I could walk around at night and nothing bad happened.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It depends on how often you use taxi or go out to Western restaurants. Otherwise, the public transportation and Chinese restaurants were very cheap.

My Chinese language professor pushed me to use Chinese more than English. I tried to communicate with others in Chinese.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Do not be afraid to talk to locals. Have no fear of making mistakes. As long you are trying, you are good to go.
