The best decision I've ever made! Past Review

By (Stonehill College) - abroad from 06/27/2019 to 11/17/2019 with

The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Brisbane - University of Queensland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned about so many different cultures. I was able to not only meet Australians, but many international students from Norway, Italy, and other countries that I still keep in touch with. I gained a passion for traveling and also learned that I can be independent.

I loved every moment studying abroad through TEAN. My experience started with TEAN orientation at the Great Barrier Reef and was able to meet other students and feel comfortable in a new country right away.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It isn't hard to live on a student budget when grocery shopping and cooking on your own and only eating out about once per week. When traveling, I recommend flying tigerair or jetstar to cut down costs as you can usually find cheap flights through them. Staying in hostels is also a good way to cut costs and I never had any bad experiences with hostels.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Fly tigerair and jetstar. Try not to buy coffee out everyday because that will add up. Grocery shopping and meal prepping is also a good way to stop yourself from eating out too often.
