Forever Planning a Trip Back to My Home in New Zealand Past Review
By Kelli L (Quinnipiac University) - abroad from 06/24/2016 to 11/11/2016 with
The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Dunedin - University of Otago
I gained a family of friends I met while abroad- internationals, Kiwis, and other TEAN participants. I saw parts of the world that I never even knew existed. I caught the travel bug- learning about the world is so important and I never want to stop.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
classes were great and very interesting, professors were so friendly, |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
I always had a TEAN representative just a phone call or a walk away which was extremely reassuring and helpful |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
My entire 5-person flat turned into best friends on day one and they were great people to travel with and cook with |
* Food: |
so many cute cafes and delicious restaurants, it was hard picking where to go every weekend! |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Kiwis are extremely welcoming people that loved showing us their home land and helping us around. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Very easily accessible but I luckily never needed health care while abroad. |
* Safety: |
Safety never even crossed my mind as a concern. Very friendly city. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I cannot say enough great things about TEAN. They helped me every step of the way and provided me people and experiences I will treasure for the rest of my life. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Prices for things such as clothes and groceries were very similar to what we spend here in the US. Hostels and camping made traveling very cheap. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Stay in hostels! Cook flat dinners with your flatmates, it will save a lot of money and be lots of fun to have family dinner every night! |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
