Time of My Life Past Review
By Rachel Stone (University of New Hampshire) - abroad from 02/09/2019 to 06/20/2019 with
The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Dunedin - University of Otago
I gained so much from my experience abroad. I learned to appreciate and respect so many different cultures and I gained a tremendous amount of independence. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and grew from that in so many different ways. This experience was more than worthwhile and I left with so many memories that I will cherish forever.

Yes
Choosing TEAN as my program was one of the best decisions I made. Their staff helped me with every step of the way and made the entire process easy and stress free. If I ever had any questions, I know they were only a quick phone call or email away. They were very organized and truly wanted to give every single person the best experience they possibly could. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I spent about $25 on groceries/food every week and about $50 on weekend trips (give or take where we were going). Camping/hiking trips were cheaper than other trips. This accounts mostly for gas and food. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I would start saving your money as soon as you can. It is always better to have more because you don't want to be stressed out about running low. Making a monthly budget is also a great way to save money and to keep track of your spending. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
