Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was difficult enough to be a challenge but the professors were also conscientious of the fact that we were studying abroad and experiencing a lot of new things. While they did not make excuses for us, they were very kind and gave us enough time to explore and experience.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

My lack of integration was really just because I did not speak Korean. It was my own fault.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I did not have any health problems so I don't know how they actually worked.

* Safety:

I felt safer there than I have ever felt in the US.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I think you just have to plan and budget.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150/wk
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Plan for what you want to do. Most of my money problems came from wanting to travel, go to concerts, buy clothes, eat at famous restaurants, etc. These were all expenses that I did not plan for and caused me to spend more than I anticipated.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

If we learned it was good, but even if we did not we were still okay.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Beginner
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? I hadnt taken one.
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Make sure to study before you go. Even just to have the basics greetings, how to order food, and knowing how to say "I want...please".
