The most pleasantly uncomfortable I've ever been Past Review
By A student (Accounting/ International Affairs, University of Cincinnati) - abroad from 09/03/2013 to 12/20/2013 with
The Education Abroad Network (TEAN): Shanghai - Fudan University
What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
China was by far the most removed from I've been from my traditions and culture throughout all of my travels. It seemed like everything was different to the last detail, and the adjustment was one of the bigger I've experienced. But that made for an amazing time and an experience that would be difficult to recreate. I learned a ton about adapting to new situations and dealing with issues and things you didn't understand. The language barrier was by far the biggest I've experienced and the patience taken away from that was huge. TEAN did a great job setting us up before we got on the ground and transitioning us into one of the most amazing cities in the world.

The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
