Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
. The University of New South Wales was the perfect campus for me. The classes were at a reasonable level and the teachers were so helpful. TEAN really helped me adjust to a new school. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
TEAN staff are AMAZING! The nicest people who were so helpful and understanding. Whenever there was a problem or a question I had, staff members immediately assisted me. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in Coogee right along the beach. The apartments were furnished, roomy and very nice. The staff working at the apartments front desk aided us whenever needed, making our living situation very smooth. |
* Food: |
DELICIOUS!!. There are endless restaurants and cafes with tasty food everywhere you go in Sydney. Food from the grocery stores was always fresh, too! |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Although Sydney is a very populated and busy place with people from all over the world, it's culture is infused in every aspect of the city. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I got sick once during my semester in Australia and the healthcare TEAN provides is easy and helpful. I had no problems! |
* Safety: |
I felt so safe in Sydney. I was worried about it before I arrived because it is such a big city, but I never once felt unsafe. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I struggled a little bit with money management. My biggest tip is to not be so careless at the beginning of the semester so that your money lasts until the end! |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I spent around $200 a week for food and transportation. If I was traveling or going to some type of event, I would spend a little more than that. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Look into a part-time job! I didn't because I was worried it would take away from my time to travel, but I really wish I had. |

The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
