Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The grading system is definitely different in Australia and the professors seem to grade a little harder but at UNSW they have lectures and then a tutorial with a smaller class size. The tutorials helped me a lot because the facilitator went over that weeks lecture in more detail. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
TEAN provided us with different options for housing. I opted for the beach accommodations on Coogee Beach and I HIGHLY recommend it. I lived in an apartment with 5 other girls and it was nice to live on my own and be completely self sufficient. It was also lovely to be less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. The only downside was probably the fact that you lived with other Americans instead of International students but if you join clubs on campus it is not hard to meet other students. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I met people from all over the world by going out and trying to step outside my comfort zone. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe while anywhere in Australia and I traveled a lot a far amount. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
TEAN was amazing while in Australia, they helped with every little question you might have and they also provide about 3-4 free activities throughout the semester. They ares super helpful in all aspects of the study abroad experience. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Australia was very expensive but the exchange rate kind of evened it out. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $150 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | try to cook your own food as much as possible, it is the cheaper option. |
