Amazing Sydney Experience Past Review

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I took Italian I and consumer behavior, a marketing course. The workload is definitely similar to my home university, but they do mark hard if you compare it by numbers because they're system is different. A 90 is really great there, definitely an A and outstanding, but for us that seems alright. However, most of the lectures were similar to my home school and the team work was graded alike.

On-site administration of your program

The program did a great job providing opportunities to travel and offer support and suggestions for classes. They were very helpful and explained the Australian culture very well in the orientation, too. The size of the program was large, and I met a lot of great new people that were there to have fun as well and we all got along.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My housing was absolutely perfect. It was located in Bondi Junction, a great area central to the city with above an entire transportation center. It was also close to the beach, yet close enough to school as well. The tiffany apartments provided us with cleaning services, fresh towels, a gym and even a pool! I didn't have to bring any items that way, everything was provided for in the apartment. Nightlife was definitely easily accessible, and we were located right next to the mall. I honestly could not have imagined a better living arrangement!

The food provided on orientation was a little weak, but there are a lot of us to feed while traveling so I know it is difficult. However, dining in Australia was amazing! We could go to so many restaurants and the grocery store was located in the giant mall across the street with anything and everything that you could possibly need.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

One of my favorite memories was of the mardi-gras, which was so much fun. My program also arranged for horse race, orientation, pre-semester trips up to the east coast, and even a Thailand Spring Break! There was advice along the entire way, and the programs were nothing less than perfect.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Sydney was definitely a safe place, especially living in Bondi Junction. I did not have to worry about anything being stolen, and there was much less crime than in my experiences in cities in America. I never had to go to the doctors, but the health care is easily accessible. I did not need any vaccines or worry about health issues.
