Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The quality of teaching was mediocre and I was very unimpressed with the lectures, however, the tutors in the tutorials ranked well above average. I found the professors to be very arrogant, and many of whom seemed to harbor a supercilious attitude toward students. The tutors on the other hand were relatively respectful and much more open minded. The tutors also seemed incredibly passionate about the subjects they were teaching, whereas the professors seemed less interested in teaching. Most faculty at the University took far too long to respond to even short emails, and some didn't even respond at all. The grading system is much different and cannot be accurately measured in accordance with a US grading system. Overall, the academic experience seems less competitive than it is in the US. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The Education Abroad Network was very adept at coordinating activities and ensuring customer satisfaction. They were also very knowledgeable and willing to assist. I have nothing negative to say about TEAN. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The Merition was really nice. It was about a 35 minute trip each way to the University of Sydney by train + walking. The only gripe I have with the Meriton is the unwarranted noise violations being handed out. Many students would receive noise violations when nobody had even complained. The Education Abroad Network was responsive and dealt with the hotel accordingly. |
* Food: |
The food in Sydney was very good, and quite similar to the US, but smaller portions. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The cultural and social experience was outstanding! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I felt safe throughout the duration of my trip. The healthcare is comparable to the US, in terms of quality. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
