* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? While the program is pretty fun in and of itself, I think I personally experienced some displeasure at the restrictions placed upon me. In the states, I am expected to deal with pretty much everything myself, be it driving, making my own food, or exploring. While I appreciate the guided tours, I still want to be off on my own instead of locked into a group of 3 people that may or may not be able to go certain places, effectively creating a boundary for myself. This is completely different to going yourself and having the freedom to explore where you want, whenever you want While the programs is great for students who are just trying to learn and experience the world, I would recommend that you go yourself or stay a few days after the program has ended to get the true Japan experience.
