The GREEN Program: Iceland - Sustainability and Renewable Energy Abroad
This trip was completely worth while. Studying abroad will teach you more than you could ever learn in a classroom. Getting to see first-hand the implementation of what you learn in the classroom is a unique experience that undoubtedly enhances the learning process. Mix that with the awe-inspiring country that is Iceland and you have an adventure that every student should be taking advantage of.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The classes at the university shouldn't be too difficult to follow for anyone who has a decent understanding of renewable energy and environmental science. Some of the engineering portions may be difficult for people who don't have that kind of background. The lectures on the actual technologies, geothermal and hydro were much more lively than the energy economics classes. |

Having native Icelanders along on the trip with us played a huge role in learning the culture. Always there to answer any question you could come up with and more importantly help with being less tourist-y. |

How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I did not have any experience with the healthcare system. No vaccines were needed specifically for this program. |

One of the safest countries in the world there was never a point in which I felt our safety was jeopardized. |

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Since food and housing were included in the cost of the program it was not difficult to live on a minimal budget. The only cost was personal expenses which can be easily limited. |
