Learned an incredible amount about myself, the United States, and Tanzania. Worth all the effort I put in to get there.

education was challenging and engaging, but very doable

On-site administration of your program

expectations were clearly laid out and when issues arose they were handled with professionalism and understanding

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

sharing a room and bathroom with 3 other men was not ideal but doable

* Food:

did take some time getting used to, but now that I'm back in the USA I really miss it

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

local culture while different, was extremely inviting

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

SFS did everything to help sick students, and health care in Tanzania is quite affordable

* Safety:

always felt safe, and safety concerns were addressed at the beginning of the program

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

practicing Swahili was one of my greatest joys while in Tanzania. ample opportunities to learn the the language

How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Beginner
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? practice as much as you can before departing. using the local language goes a long way. use any medium you can; videos, apps, books, instructors
