Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Not many resources available--very difficult to find good study spots; teachers were not very available for help |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Not very active in helping us adjust to and connect with Stockholm |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Far from the city, but the apartment itself was nice. |
* Food: |
Food in Stockholm is good but very expensive |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It's very difficult to meet Swedes! We were also VERY poorly integrated into SSE. Most of us shared no classes with Swedish students, and those of us that had local buddies did not gain much from them. It is totally up to you to put yourself out there. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It's a very safe city, though that is changing |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
|
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | It's very hard to study Swedish in Sweden--everyone speaks (and wants to speak) English to you |

Comments: | Econ was alright, but basically just a macro class. The professor was not a very effective--I got stuff out of the course, but only because I studied for myself and did extra work |

Comments: | Quite easy, but an interesting course. Lots of differences about work in Sweden. Would recommend if you have not taken a psych class before. |

Comments: | Many did not like this class because of the professor. Though I did not think his teaching was particularly effective, I did think the subject matter was enough to justify taking the class. |
