The experience was worth while, even though It was hard moving to a country that I did not know anyone. I was able to backpack the east coast, made new friends and saw incredible places I would have never gone to. It was really eye opening, especially living on a student's budget. I would recommend going to Australia to a lot of... - Arizona State University View Entire Review

About

Study for one or two semesters as part of your home institution's degree at The University of Queensland (UQ) and choose from more than 4000 high-quality courses, with many offering theoretical or practical components unique to UQ. Many courses focus on Australian topics or offer field trips to unique locations in South East Queensland, while others promote group project work or research opportunities.

Ranked in the top 50* universities in the world, UQ is one of Australia’s most highly ranked and awarded learning and research institutions. More than 55,000 students study across UQ’s 4 beautiful campuses in South East Queensland at St Lucia, Herston, Dutton Park and Gatton. They include approximately 21,500 international students from 141 different countries who contribute to a diverse, supportive and inclusive campus community.

UQ is a founding member of the national Group of Eight (Go8), a leading group of Australian universities that conducts a significant portion of all university research in Australia. UQ is one of only three Australian members of Universitas 21 (U21), a global alliance allowing UQ to offer students unique opportunities to participate in student exchanges and events throughout the world.

WHERE IS UQ?

UQ has campuses in and around Brisbane, the capital city of the state of Queensland. Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia, after Sydney and Melbourne, with a multicultural population of approximately 2.5 million.

Built on and around the hills overlooking the Brisbane River, the city is characterised by a subtropical climate, a safe and relaxed outdoor lifestyle, unique “Queenslander” architecture, bustling restaurants and cafés, and thriving arts, sports and entertainment scenes. Brisbane has all the advantages of a large modern city — restaurants, bars, galleries, museums, sporting events, and shopping districts — yet retains its reputation as a friendly Australian capital city surrounded by nature.

Queensland’s landscape comprises lush northern rainforests, red deserts in the west, and golden surf beaches in the south-east of the state. It is also home to the Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef on the planet and one of the seven wonders of the natural world.
