I think I know so much more about this part of West Africa and how most of the people live.

Kristen and Leah were great administrators of the program - made the entire trip as smooth as possible.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Overall, I was comfortable, but the living quarters need to be repaired and updated.

* Food:

Overall I was satisfied with the food - the fresh fruit was great - but the breakfasts became monotonous.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The activities such as visiting the market, and the opportunity to go to a funeral, the naming of a baby, going to church, the wonderful children, and the friendly staff and local people helped make feel I know the Ghanian people so much better than I would have just visiting sites in the country as a regular tourist.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Although I did get sick on the second day, I had my antibiotics as instructed and did not need to use any local medical facilities.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That the school needs supplies. If each person (who wanted to) brought just a few items in their luggage, it would not have burdened anyone and helped the school children.

The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
