What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I understood the importance of making foreign guest feel welcome in the host country. My study abroad experience made realize that American culture is very busy in an unhealthy way. Most people don't have time to rest properly and spend time with family.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was moderate considering the professors had to cover pile of material in one month. The grading system was distinct and different for each professors. Some professors were not lenient nor forgiving for mistakes and other professors were relaxed on their grading. It seems like American educational system tend to put emphasis on challenging students cognitive processes and application of material more than my host university.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Observe the people of that country. "Work to Live, not live to work (AMerica)." These were the words that one our study abroad coordinators told me and the group before we left America. Basically, I would suggest that future study abroad students observe the way that natives of a country live their life. In Spain, I saw that natives invest time and money to socializing with friends and family. In America, we spend most of our energy in working and barely have time with family and friends. Observing other people may help you to appreciate your relationship with your family and friends or at least improve on those relationships.
