Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The grading system is totally different and the way courses are designed is also unique. University classes only meet once a week and the credits for each class vary widely based on how you will be assessed and given a grade in the course. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Carster Kluger was always available to help whenever needed and he knew exactly what was necessary to do and when. |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Living with local students wasn't as helpful as I thought it might be in language acquisition because most of the time they were not at home at the times when I was there. While in Trier at the university I was living in a single dorm, therefore there was not much interaction within the dorm with local students. |
| * Food: |
There is a wide variety of restaurants for everyone and in various price ranges. I had plenty of money for food. |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
There is always something to do and people are very willing to travel because traveling throughout Europe can be inexpensive. |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
| * Safety: |
I felt safe in both cities and never had any issues. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | It really depends on what my friends and I were doing that week. I had 350 euro per month and sometimes I would end the month with 100 euro left and other times I wouldn't have any left. If you go to the large supermarkets you can get good quality inexpensive food. |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Eat cheap and save the extra money to travel around during your free time. |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
| How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Intermediate |
| What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | German 201 |
| If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
|
| Language acquisition improvement? |
The language school in Muenster (Kapito Sprachschule) was incredible and the teachers there were very helpful. I was constantly with other international students and was always conversing in German. |
Direct Enrollment/Exchange
| * Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? | Direct Enrollment |
