What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I had a great time. It made me look at America more and think about how we are different and look at positives and negatives. It has definitely made me want to travel more.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I thought the program was great. All of the administration knew what to expect because they have done this before. The program size was about what I expected, but my class was smaller than what I would have thought. I also didn't know ahead of time that the program was all Americans.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was arranged for us and very nice. We lived in 6 bedroom apartments where towels and blankets were provided. It was about a 15 minute walk from campus.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There was a festival on campus one day that was a lot of fun. Our field trips were all very interesting and we got to see a lot. There was always something we could do.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe the whole time I was there.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? The whole time I was there I spent about a thousand dollars. It varied from week to week depending on what we were doing. Meal vouchers are provided so not much was spent on food. I spent most of my money on traveling to other cities and staying there, and I spent about $100 on souveniers. If I wouldn't have done the extra traveling, my expenses would have been much less. Personal expenses probably only cost me about $50 a week depending on if I used the meal vouchers or ate out.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Think about the conversion rate before you buy something. A lot of times things don't seem as expensive until you think about it in terms of what you would spend at home.

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Screening in Ireland

Course Department:
Instructor: James and Emma
Instruction Language: english
Comments: Both teachers were very knowledgable on the subject. It was slightly challenging becase it is the type of class you have to participate in the discussion and be able to pull certain elements out of the films on your own. One of our classes we took a trip to the local movie theater and saw a new Irish film. Class was less often than it would be at home, but the days were longer.
