A new and interesting perspective not only on Latin America, but on my life here in the United States as well. I learned the important lesson that its perfectly healthy, and important, to make a fool of yourself! When you are out of your element you learn the most.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived with a family of six. It was an excellent opportunity to practice my Spanish. I wish now though that I had pushed myself even more to engage with my family. <br /><br /> |

Generally speaking, Chilean cuisine is not incredible. However, I was more than satisfied with what I had. |

Chile really does feel like a safe environment. If you make intelligent choices you shouldn't run into any trouble there. Some people in my program were victims of theft, direct and indirect. Always be aware of where you and your valuables are. If someone robs you, just give them what they want! |

| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | The Tufts program provides you with a stipend that covers any expenses you may have, and more. Chile is not particularly expensive, and you will have the chance to eat at home a lot. |

A Look Back
| * What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Talk to your Chilean classmates! They seem shy but are very intelligent, warm, and fun people! If you constantly speak in English with your American friends people are not going to want to approach you. Put yourself out there. |
