Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

It is rare (unheard of) for me to say this, but I saw no room for improvement from program administration. The only problems I had were with dealing with aspects of Tufts administration back home (registering for fall classes and ResLife were both unholy nightmares, but ResLife at least was made considerably more cooperative with Jaki's involvement).

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Better than Tufts. Private Bathroom, well set up kitchen, thick walls, spacious, wonderful view, well located.

* Food:

food shopping in London for student meal needs is vastly easier than it is here. Shops sold things that I actually want to eat, in quantities and at prices which made sense. They were well laid out, had excellent variety, and did not cause the sense of futile rage I get when I am unable to locate a quiche in an American supermarket. Somehow American supermarkets manage to take 8 times as much space to contain about a quarter of the edible variety. Going out for food was similarly excellent.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Free Nationalize Healthcare. Big cities make me nervous. As do CCTV cameras.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I found the stipend sufficient for eating well, some moderately expensive hobbies, and some limited travel. This is keeping in mind that I stayed over Christmas break.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? You'll never have the opportunity again. London falls without question into the relatively short list of 'great' cities of the world. It might seem too similar to America, but it's surprisingly different, and even if it isn't you can easily get places that are.
