Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

the course load in this University is not much compared to Cottey. There will be a lot of readings but only one essay for the whole semester per course. I did not find much resources in this university for example, the library was usually busy and the desks were full. Also, there is not enough updated books. The professors are nice and they do their best to help the exchange students. But the students have to introduce themselves as exchange students in order to receive a little bit more attention as the local peers.

On-site administration of your program

the host program administrator was good. they explained very well the university life, the inflation/money wise and the culture.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The lady were I lived is very nice, very talkative and ready to help out if you need any help. Also, she encourage the student to be adventurous and travel around the country.

the food was good, however it depends on the student preference. Argentinian families eat a lot of meat, pasta, cheese, bread and empanadas. I liked the empanadas, pasta, and cheese because I am not a meat person.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt integrated with the local culture, although there are times that you might feel that you come from a different planet. Also, there are people that were not very welcoming and do not want to answer your questions for directions. But that is the least because people are different in every society.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I did not go to any hospital in Argentina, therefore I cannot rate it because I did not experience the healthcare system. The host university did not require me to take special vaccines for the program. Although it asked my blood type when I filled my application forms.

During my stay in Argentina I lived in Victoria, San Fernando the country side of Buenos Aires. In this place I felt 100% safe because in every two or three square there is a guardian station. So the town is pretty much protected and safe. But traveling to the City of Buenos Aires I did not felt safe enough because there is a lot of people, and in some areas you have to be careful with your purse or backs. So if you want to travel to the city make sure to take only the essential things such as your cellphone and a small amount of money for your meals or drinks.

I loved the country and the diversity of the topography and I liked the University too. The reason of why I rated it with 9 stars is because there were some issues that I did not like. For example, the security guard that register students at the entrance of the University. Some of them were rude, sometimes I felt offended because I greeted them and they did not even respond. Another thing is that I tried to get closer to some local students but they appeared that I was invisible in their conversation.

In the beginning of the semester I lived easily. I used $200 per week, although things changed through my stay because of the Inflation, things got expensive in the supermarkets, the price of transportation increased and so on.

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

The university encouraged me to use Spanish at all times. I received all of my classes in Spanish and all essays were in Spanish. Some professor may give the opportunity to the students to write their essays in their native language. But many exchange students preferred to do them in the local language.
