As i said,Leipzig gives u a lot of freedom to do different things. which also means u need to be really independent and social to make friends and overcome cultural barriers and different difficulties yourself. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in an amazing flat right in the city center. it's a historical building as well. In the beginning, i did have small troubles with my flatmates, due to personal and cultural issues. But it was a great experience overall. |
* Food: |
unless u really like to cook everyday, food in leipzig could be difficult because the cafeteria doesn't serve dinner. the lunch was great though. with wide range of selections and very good price. |

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | my rent is 300/month for a single room in a shared flat. food is about 200-300 i went out with friends a lot, and travels a lot that's a huge amount of money, but it really just depends on person |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | i think the student need to have a open mind, and be really social. there's possibilities or maybe 1 or 2 months for me that i was really depressed and sit home all day. since 80% of the students live off-campus, and actually there's no real "campus" in leipzig. u are really by your own. Germans might not be so easy going as americans, they are really good person indeed, but sometimes you might think they are mean to you just because they are not as outgoing as the americans. so looking for friends and socializing is really important. the city provides u a lot. there're many parks, nature, history, and museums. u shouldn't miss it. |
