What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My experience and what I learned are not able to be expressed in words. Living in another country changes who you are, it changes your opinion of everything. I feel more confident, more at ease with different surroundings, I also feel more opinionated and frustrated with people's ignorance of other cultures. Everyone should study abroad.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The class system is very different in Ireland, there are no attendance points, tests, or homework. The entire grade earned is based on a single essay and topic given towards the beginning of the semester. The teachers were very knowledgeable about their subjects and it was incredibly interesting to hear events from a different viewpoints.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in city center in Cork, the building was small and housed mainly international students. Living with mainly Europeans and Irish was the best decision I could have made. When abroad, make friends with people from other countries, sticking to only Americans limits your trip.

* Food:

English Market in Cork is incredible, fresh food for incredibly reasonable prices. Best place to get groceries in Cork.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

If in Ireland, get to know the Irish people. My Irish friends are what made my experience so wonderful. Galway trip with the International Student society was a great time, go on it if you can.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Cork is a very safe place, don't do anything stupid and you'll never even feel threatened. Everyone walks everywhere so the streets are well lit and patroled.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
