I learned more living abroad for a semester than any class could ever teach me. Past Review

By (Journalism., Quinnipiac University) - abroad from 01/06/2014 to 05/23/2014 with

University College Cork: Cork - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to be independent, how to budget money, how to plan trips, how to solve my own problems, and how to enjoy every minute of life. It was completely worthwhile.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Great professors and classes but wasn't very challenging.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Always there if we needed to ask a question!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Loved it. Apartments were a little out of the way so everything was a pretty far walk but I got used to it.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Never needed it so I'm not sure.

* Safety:

Was never even the smallest bit worried about my safety in Cork.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Everything here is more expensive than in America and the conversion rate is absolutely devastating to your bank account.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 100 euro
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Grocery shop in big hauls at big stores with low prices. Don't just pop over to Tesco Express every night and grab something for dinner. It ultimately costs more.
