Cheers London Past Review
By A student (Economics, Psychology, Middlebury College) - abroad from 09/24/2012 to 12/14/2012 with
University College London (UCL): London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
I learned that, fortunately, in almost every major European city it's not too hard to find someone that speaks English. It was great to see the different cultures and to learn about our "cousins" (as they call us) across the pond in London. It was worthwhile and I would recommend it.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I enjoyed my time at UCL. To be honest, I did not know the academic reputation of the school before applying, and I was surprised to find out that it was one of the top schools in the UK. I did not have any graded assignments until the end of the semester, which was a new experience for me. Because of this, I feel that the academic rigor was less than at my home school (Middlebury). However, this also probably reflected the fact that I spent less time on academic work due to being abroad. I assume resources where available, but I did not spend much time in the library. While I would have wished that the work was easier (especially at the end of the semester), it was a fair workload that gave me the opportunity to learn. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
