London: A home away from home! Past Review
By A student (Computer Engineering., Stevens Institute of Technology) - abroad from 09/29/2014 to 12/12/2014 with
University College London (UCL): London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
London was just as colorful, international, and fun as I thought it would be. I learned how to adapt to a new culture and I even took on a research position!. I feel more comfortable navigating a large city and I learned a lot about the UK and even America from a global perspective.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The school is definitely rigorous, but I found that compared to my home institution, the work load was laughable. I'm used to an intense academic schedule, while at UCL I had only 4 classes with no homework. The resources was 5 stars. |

* Health Care:

* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe. I even lived in an apparently sketchy part of town, but I never felt weird. I took the public transportation alone. However, I do recommend having a walking buddy if you're walking through deserted parts of London alone at night. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes

Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
London is so expensive. Lunch could cost about $15. Drinks, social outings, etc, were very expensive. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $175 |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
