Best decision I've ever made, just do it. Past Review
By A student (Wildlife Ecology, University of Maine - Orono) - abroad from 09/05/2016 to 12/16/2016 with
University of Aberdeen: Aberdeen - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
There are a lot of different ways to live life on this earth and lot of places/people to see and meet. Be comfortable with yourself and be genuine and people will naturally gravtate to you. Very worthwhile

Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Study was rigorous, but not overwhelming, I learned a great deal and enjoyed the more relaxed and natural pace of the Scottish education system |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Very welcoming and eager to provide aid or suport whenever needed |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Housing was satisifactory but expensivem I would recommend looking for private accomodation |
| * Food: |
Food was often plain, however much higher quality than we recieve in america with less preservatives and chemicals |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
the Scottish culture is extremely warm and welcoming |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
didn't have any issues |
| * Safety: |
Fairly dangerous city considering it's location in Britain. Nearby park was site of several sexual assaults and robberies. Avoid Seaton Park after sundown |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
The scottish culture is very open and friendly, the hiking and scenery is incredible, and theres easy access to travel if you wish |
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Easily, food is very cheap and public transport is much better than found in America. However Aberdeen itself is an expensive city to live in. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | less than 100$ |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | take advantage of the college night at the pub, much cheaper than going out on a regular night and usually more fun! |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
| To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
