About
In this program we will examine the intersections of the past and present as we explore the culture and history of Greece through more than a dozen field trips to archeological sites and museums and while traveling to breath-taking locations around Greece. The backdrop of our adventures will be Athens where democracy was born; the laid-back island life of Hydra; the prehistoric sites of the great Myceneans; the medieval castles and monasteries of the Peloponnese; the vibrant life of the town of Nafplion; and, of course, the blue waters of the Mediterranean sea. While reading American and Greek writers (in translation), students will learn about a beautiful and sophisticated modern country through its rich and complex past.
