What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that I am more independent than ever thought I could be. Being away from home for three- four months isn't the easiest, but it is worth the wait! I learned that when I was feeling upset- I would just need to stay busy and lean on people who are in the same position as me.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I enjoyed meeting the people I meet through my classes, but I was unsatisfied with the schooling portion. This is mainly because of how different schooling is in the U.K.

On-site administration of your program

I loved all of the admin through Chester. They all made the international students feel welcomed, and kept us involved and busy from time to time with little trips provided by the school.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Very satisfied with the living environment. I was able to have my own space, and have fun at the same time. I was in the perfect location.

* Food:

Food was very good, and kept us eating healthy for the three months we were there.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt as if we drifted towards the Germans and the Norwegians. The British culture was very present, but the friendships I made were through different cultures.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

When ever I were to get sick, there was not much to do. We weren't very informed on what to do if such thing were to have happened, and there was a lot of stress with trying to seek help for our health. I recommend getting medication through a doctor before going because their health care is just different than American Healthcare.

* Safety:

Felt very safe

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

It's hard to type out a summery of my experience. This event in my life will last for ever and will always be in my heart. I enjoyed every second of it, even the hard times.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About 50 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Ask your self "do you need it" before bringing it home. Packing to go home isn't the best when you have too much stuff.

  • A better explanation on how credit transfers will work and what is needed in order to transfer
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I didn't need everything I packed with me. I recommend going with a full suitcase, and bring a light packed suitase that way there is room for the way home with whatever is bought while being abroad.
