Scotland: the costly experience of a lifetime Past Review
By Amanda C (HISTORY., Marymount University) for
University of Dundee: Dundee - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
My experience abroad has reinforced my desire to travel the world. I gained great insight into myself as a person, the european mindset. I plan to return to Scotland many times in the future as well as go to the rest of the United Kingdom and many other places.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Depending on the course/module the work load could be anywhere from very light to heavy. This and the way the courses were taught and graded also heavily depended not just on subject but which year of study the course was under. I found the grading to be much harsher than grading and expectations in American institutions. Depending on the course level and the instructor you may receive instruction or essentially teach yourself the course. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Good location, good neighborhood, had to buy all essentials upon arrival. |
* Food: |
you are entirely responsible for feeding yourself, there are no meal plans, no cafeteria, food is not part of room/board fees. All food expenses come out of pocket. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Macbeth field trip touring Scone palace grounds where Scottish Kings were crowned, Abbey at Dunkeld on the edge of Birnham wood, and the location of Macbeth's hill fort. |

|

Yes
|

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
