What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a different perspective on life and Europe. I met a ton of international students that I will continue to keep in touch with. It was incredibly worthwhile and I honestly wish that I was able to stay for longer than four months.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Overall, the class courses are not intense or rigorous at all. In all honestly, do not except to learn a lot from the courses. Most classes rarely require work outside of the lectures or seminars. You can easily customize your class schedule so that you do not have Friday classes. I only had class on Mondays and Tuesdays. The school also offers "intensive" courses, where you go to a class from 9 to 5 for a week and then you get credit for the course.

The Buddy System at VSE is really great and helpful. They put on a ton of events that you can chose to go to. It also allows you to meet other exchange students and Czech students

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I recommend living in the dorms! They are far from nice but it is super cheap and allows you to meet other students. From the people I know that lived in apartments, they wish they had lived in the dorms instead.

I personally never went to the doctor but I had a friend go and it was a very easy process.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Prague is the perfect city to study abroad in.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Prague is very cheap. It makes going out to eat a very easy thing to do often. You will spend the most money traveling to other cities.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $125
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? For traveling to far away cities from Prague, look into busing to Berlin first and then flying from Berlin. Flying out of Prague is not very cheap but flying from Berlin is very cheap. Also taking buses to other cities is super easy and Eurolines normally offers a lot of promos.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had done more research on where to travel and I wish I had learned more about Czech history before coming. I came in knowing nothing and the history is so interesting that I should have done more research on it.
