What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was interesting being in a country where you are the minority. I met lots of interesting people, made lifelong friends, saw amazing places, and managed to go to class a few times along the way. I want to go back and travel more. My academic interests didn't really change. I took think more as a cultural experience than an academic one.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teaching methods were very different than at UT. There was not much interaction between the students and professors, and it was unusual to request to meet a professor outside of class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Kincaid's Court Block 3. Building styled like a small apartment. It was a freshman dorm so it was really noisy at night, and it was right on Cowgate so there was noise from the pubs at night as well. Overall, my only complaint is the noise.

* Food:

Grocery store only 10 minute walk. Pots and pans available in flat, I just bought flatware, plates and cups for myself.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Great night life! Lots of pubs and clubs to visit. There were also weekend trips for international students which was very fun.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

City very safe, I didn't ever feel in danger. I didn't get sick when I was over there so I never needed healthcare.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? The exchange rate sucked, that was why it was more expensive.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Exchange
