Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Academic rigor and intensity - Classes there are quite different so it's hard to compare to the rigor of UT classes. I believe the professor determines the difficulty of the course as well. I felt that I was challenged, but did not feel overwhelmed. Resources - Overall, it UoE is an amazing university with several facilities and I am sure that I did not even take advantage of them all. However, for research it was often difficult to find resources using their catalogs and I often had to resort to using UT's resources in order to access the readings professors had assigned to us.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was living at Uni accommodation. At first I was at Fountainbridge which was a 25 minute walk from campus, I put in a request to move closer to Robertson's Close, which wasn't the newest or cleanest place but the proximity to campus and central location was great.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Healthcare was easily accessible and FREE. It was a better experience than one I would have here at home. I believe that everyone I knew was sick for those first couple of weeks after arriving, possibly due to the drastic weather change (it was very cold and rainy).

* Safety:

Felt very safe in Edinburgh.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

My original choice was to go Barcelona and I think I would choose that or another place with better weather. Otherwise, I think Edinburgh exceeded my expectations.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Very expensive to live in the UK, especially because of $ to pound conversion.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Understand the exchange rate and overestimate, because you will be eating/traveling a lot.
