Wonderful city, great experience, different system/ university Past Review
By A student (Wellesley College) - abroad from 09/16/2019 to 12/20/2019 with
University of Edinburgh: Edinburgh - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
While abroad, I learned about everything from living in a new country to facts about the country's history, culture, and politics. The experience was definitely worth it!

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
While I really enjoyed the content of the courses that I took abroad, the instruction and resources provided were disappointing. Although the classes were not particularly hard, the fact that I was expected to learn most of the material independently made the classes a bit more difficult. (Particularly applicable to Computer Science courses) |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
My accommodation in Pollock Halls was very nice. It was a 20-30 minute walk to classes, but the community among the students in the Pollock houses was well worth it! |
* Food: |
The food at the JMCC dining hall was alright. They had a variety of options for each meal (including vegetarian options). |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
There were numerous ways to immerse yourself in Scottish culture on campus and in the city. Generally, visiting students stuck together though. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
The healthcare system in Scotland was easy, accessible, and affordable. |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I was eating in the dining hall, but there were also a lot of cheap (and good) food options and shops in the area. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | £30 (not including the trips I took throughout Europe) |
