University of Evansville: Grantham - Study abroad at Harlaxton College

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much more than can fit in this tiny box and I would recommend this experience to anyone.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was challenging, informative, and interesting.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very helpful and accomadating

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We stayed in a huge Victorian Manor house. It couldn't get much better than that.

* Food:

There weren't too many options and I now understand why English food is sometimes referred to as "grey".

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We had a program that matched us up to local families which was a huge success.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

We had a nurse in the manor house but she wasn't there at convenient hours and if you did manage to find her, she would either send you away with nothing or tell you to call a cab for the hospital. There was no inbetween.

* Safety:

I always felt very safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

England is expensive but overall I think it was well worth the cost and I never thought the cost was unfair.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Each week? Maybe an average of $150 mainly spent on weekend traveling.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Traveling independently saves a ton of money is very reasonable.
