University of Evansville: Grantham - Study abroad at Harlaxton College

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Traveling was something I always wanted to do, but was always too afraid. This program pushed me out of my comfort zone while still holding me and making me feel safe.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It's not an easy program, but it's not hard, either. The hardest part is learning how to balance your travels with your studies.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was in the Carriage House, and it was perfect for someone like me-- who likes to be a part of the action, but also be slightly removed from it.

* Food:

I have strict dietary restrictions, and they tried! But I had plain steamed vegetables once a day, which got old quickly. But like I said-- they definitely tried, which was nice.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Budgeting is hard, but a necessity.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

  • The friends I made
  • The ease of travel (both with and without the school)
* What could be improved?
  • N/A
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? You will be homesick. And it will suck. But do not, DO NOT, let it get to you and take away from your fun. It's not worth it in the slightest.
