By A student (Psychology, Texas Lutheran University) - abroad from 01/09/2019 to 04/25/2019 with
University of Evansville: Grantham - Study abroad at Harlaxton College
I learned that you can never expect other places to be how you think it will be. Each place is different and unique.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The program had a great British Experience class and my art professor was amazing! I had one issue with one professor that told a bunch of people that he did not like me, but other than that I loved it! |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Everyone was amazing and always wanted to have fun but made sure that nobody got hurt and that everyone was being responsible. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I mean how upset could you be living in a CASTLE?! The only thing that I would change is being able to control the temperature in the rooms because it would be freezing cold most of the time. |
* Food: |
Food was pretty good and we got the chance to try food that we wouldn't normally eat in America but that was nice. Some meals were a little too different and breakfast wasn't always served so the only option for breakfast was cereal or toast. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Grantham is such a great place because there are so many things you can do during the day and at night! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
If we got sick we could go to the nurse but she wouldn't really be able to prescribe anything. We could go to the doctor but that would mean paying for a taxi there and back, but the doctor was free. |
* Safety: |
I never once thought something bad was going to happen to me! The environment just feels really friendly and welcoming. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
There were a few ups and downs but nothing is ever perfect. I got to have a great experience and make a few friends that will last a lifetime. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It was pretty easy to have a budget and keep up with it, the only hard part was figuring out a limit at the pubs. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 0-15 pounds |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Make sure you figure out just how much you want to spend in a certain week or at a certain place and plan ahead so you never run out and you always have Emergancy money in case something happens. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |
