Going to Ireland was extremely worth while. I got to better understand myself, and experience some cultures that I wouldn't be able to experience elsewhere. Also, I was able to break some stereotypes and myths about America.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The academics were great, a wonderful variety of courses. The professors were extremely intelligent and easily accessible. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Everybody was extremely helpful and accessible. They were able to clear up most questions withing a few hours and were very good at getting back to you. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I stayed in Corrib Village, student housing on Newcastle Road in Galway, I was living with mostly first year students. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for accomodation. It was nosiy, a little unclean, earned the nickname "Prison Village". Instead, I would strongly recommend looking at Glendara housing instead.

It was noisy, unclean, nothing really worked, several things were missing, it was more like a prison than an apartment complex. |
* Food: |
It was mostly home cooked, and pretty delicious. The local pubs and restaurants were similarly delicious. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The pub scene was fantastic, and taking trips to other countries was extremely easy. Look for Ryan Air, it is cheap flights all over Europe...easiest ways to get around. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I never got sick. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Be careful. Ireland is very expensive and the costs can catch up to you very quickly!!! |
Language
Language acquisition improvement? |
I was able to help several non-english speakers to improve their english. |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | It's a great program, but very independent. Once you get to Ireland, you're your own. |
