By Abby R (Public Relations, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) for
University of KwaZulu-Natal / UKZN: Durban - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
Absolutely. The experience taught me a lot about the world, as well as about myself. It opened my eyes to the beauty found in other cultures and the friendships that can form anywhere worldwide.

Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The grading system is different than what I am used to here in the U.S. But there are a wide variety of courses available to take which is nice. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Anita is absolutely the most helpful person I could have possibly asked for in helping me through the whole Study Abroad experience. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved is astonishing. |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
| * Food: |
I thought that the food was very similar to that of the food here in the U.S. |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Durban is a wonderful place to become integrated with people of all different races and cultures. It is also a wonderful place to go out and enjoy the town, and the beaches are beautiful! |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
| * Safety: |
Durban has the same safety issues that any big city does. If people are careful though, safety should not be an issue. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
