What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely! Although the schooling was a little less school that expected the trip in itself was amazing. Traveling and having the free time to enjoy the country was just breath taking! I also met a lot of cool people from around the states and stay in contact with them today.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teachers were all extremely nice and helpful. They gave you the information for the final to make it easy on you and so you know what to study. As for the workload, there was no homework and your final grade was based off your final. Although that sounds horrible to only have one grade they give you the information necessary for your final in order to study. Everyone on campus is super helpful if you just ask and very friendly regardless of any situation. Overall my experience there was incredible and I'd go back in a heart beat! FYI, bring an umbrella if you go!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There was enough access throughout if you needed help and whenever you had questions you could figure it out no problem. The only downfall I'd say was having no irish students in the classes. There was only Americans because it was during summer and irish people don't go to summer school I guess.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The apartments were super nice and clean! They come in every day to clean and bring you fresh food for the kitchen. They also change your towels every other day and your sheets once a week for you.

* Food:

Expect to eat a lot of potatoes.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The funeral was the weirdest culture thing I experienced. When someone dies in Ireland instead of driving behind the casket, people walk through the streets and then have a drink afterwards. Also people in shops, pubs, restaurants etc. along the way came outside to respect the death. It was the most incredible thing I've ever seen

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Limerick city is known as stab city, but I never once felt threatened or unsafe in any situation we were in. We stayed in a group and had no problems.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Total I spent about $1200 when I was there. I also stayed an extra week with my friend and her parents though.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? How expensive things truly are there. Euros are less than American money so back home it's a lot more money. Taking 200 euro out of an ATM it was around $350 American dollars
