It showed me a part of the world I didn't know about. It made me more grateful for what I have here in America. I got better at traveling because of how many trains, buses, trams, metros, and planes I used
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 2 weeks - 1 month |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The classes for me were actually very hard unlike what my friends told me. It was hard figuring out how classes worked. But it was a different experience so I still enjoyed it |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The international counselor was very helpful |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Living arrangement was great. No complaints |
* Food: |
I would give more than 5 stars if possible. They do a BONI system so restaurant meals are always less than 4 Euro and at some places you can get a meal for free! |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I really enjoyed the culture. Slovenia is a great country |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
If I got sick I would've had no clue what to do or where to go |
* Safety: |
I never felt in danger once while in Slovenia. Very safe country |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed my time abroad and there are experiences and memories I will always cherish. But, programs in more established countries are where more Americans go so I didn't have many of those kind of friends who can relate to me more and speak English up to my caliber. But I also made friends with people I never thought I would |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
While in Ljubljana, it was very easy to live on a student budget because of the BONI and lower cost of living than other European countries. I travelled frequently so my budget wouldn't be accurate to someone living there full time |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 50 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Have a budget. I you see yourself spending a lot in one area find ways to cut down in that area |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
