Go to Malta, Study Abroad in Malta! Past Review

University of Malta: Malta - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
COMPLETELY worthwhile. The only negative aspect is how miserable Tulane is... in two ways. Tulane was miserable to work with to send me abroad and miserable to give me credits from after I studied. Besides that - go to Malta!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

They grade way too hard. The other students are dumb. The finals are all one or two hours written essays. The classes are all one or two hour classes that meet once a week.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They didn't get anything done, very unorganized.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Our neighborhood was safe. We had a huge pool and bar in the middle of the dorm. Very social, cute little kitchens. PERFECT.

* Food:

cooked our own meals

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

went to gozo for carnival, saw the pope, parasailing, other sports things. if you're even remotely social, this is the best place to go for the best time. i had much more fun than any of my friends on their abroad programs.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? malta is EXTREMELY cheap - 120$ maybe less
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? malta is much cheaper than any big european city, so i spent less than my friends. my friends all visited me because they were jealous

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Absolutely do it. It's the only place you can go that is warm all the time, a pool in your dorm, and the most social for the least amount of money.
