What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I was able to cope with other cultures for 3 and a half months while also meeting new people while establishing worldwide connection and it was worth it and I don't regret any single moment either.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I thought the educational experience was decent but it could be better though. The 3 hour classes were too long for me and sometimes I couldn't understand the teacher because they would speak in Greek to other students.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program administration was very good. They was able to help me with any of my problems no matter what the time was.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing wasn't too good. Water would be leaking due to the bad pipes and you can't also have the shower running at the same time as the washing machine other wise the water pressure in the shower would go out. I also had to rely on the water heater too much to heat up the water for my shower and that can be a pain especially if you are in a rush. The kitchen was too small to accommodate our guests. We had a small refrigerating so not that much food could go in there. This is bad since my other roommates and I like to cook and store food. The kitchen knives were too dull also.

* Food:

The food here wasn't the same as the American food but still was good to try out the Greek food even though it did give me indigestion problems.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt somewhat integrated in the culture. Even though it was an English speaking country people would still speak in Greek and whenever I talk to them they couldn't understand my accent and sometimes I can't understand their accent.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any issues with health while I studied here other than having a minor cold but I was able to take of that by myself with my own medicine.

* Safety:

There wasn't any crime or violence while staying in Cyprus however the drivers can be a reckless at time so you should exercise caution while walking across streets or riding with someone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Everyday I had to spend money on mostly food which added up day by day even though it was a low cost. Would of been better if the university had a meal plan.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $50 per week

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
