The experience of a lifetime. Past Review
By A student (Biology, Susquehanna University) - abroad from 01/21/2016 to 05/27/2016 with
University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Semester in Cyprus
I gained a lot of cultural awareness from my experience abroad and I definitely think it was worthwhile because it made me think about the world more and have a different perspective on life.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I feel as though the classes were very easy as compared to the United States and their resources, such as printing and the computer lab were not as accessible because in the United states, my university have these resources available 24 hours of the day and 7 days a week. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The actual apartment was very nice, but I did not get along with any of my roommates and had a lot of issues with each of them. Also, it would have been nice to have free laundry within my own apartment. |
* Food: |
I love food in Cyprus. I will definitely miss it when I go home. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
The program did a great job with assisting me with my healthcare issues. They gave me exact directions on where to go and who to talk to. They also helped me with filling out the paperwork afterwards in order to get reimbursed for what I had to pay for the appointment. The administration was great, but the actual healthcare system was alright. Everything was very clean and sanitary, but I felt as though the doctor who I had spoken to did not seem as informational as other doctors that I have had in the United States. It made me nervous because it seemed as though he did not know as much and was not sure about how to help me. |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
The program was a great experience and I would not want to be anywhere else. I have met the nicest people, ate some amazing food, and have seen many places that I love and never want to leave. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 100 euro |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Definitely try to make yourself food and do not let any of it go bad. Always look for sales and only buy what is necessary. |
