What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I've been many places but I have never experienced Greek or Eastern European cultures. Everything from infrastructure to history to cuisine is new and exciting.

The school was definitely a change of pace. However, I wouldn't say it was particularly rigorous as far as time spent doing work or in class |

Yes
The people that work for global semesters put together events for the students and work really hard to make our experience in Cyprus once in a lifetime. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | A TON. But it's mostly because there isn't much do do other than spend money on going out. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Definitely set a budget before coming. It's tempting to go out all the time because you don't have class that often or your professors are lax (and maybe because you can legally buy alcohol and go to clubs), But stick to your budget and see what your wallet can support. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
