Woulnd't Trade it for the World Past Review
By Lauren Pringle (The Citadel) - abroad from 09/22/2016 to 12/22/2016 with
University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Semester in Cyprus
It was a humbling experience being a fish out of water and not speaking the main language. It showed me to appreciate and try to learn more about cultures and traditions that are new to me. i left less ignorant that when I arrived. It was absolutely worth while

|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I only wish I could have lived with a local instead of someone from the program. I realize this may not always be attainable. But inherently, social exposure is not guaranteed without some leg work on the students hands. No basic Greek class or cooking or the like which would have been really cool |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Went to the pharmacy to get medicine and not only was it cheap but readily available and easy to get. No complaints |
* Safety: |
i felt more safe in Cyprus than in my own home town |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
Getting to get out and explore another country, was an indescribable experience. It allowed me the freedom to explore and learn about myself and the world around me and beyond my own culture. Being at a military college, I especially appreciated the freedom I had. I'd absolutely do it again |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It was easy to stay to a budget but only because I had the vouchers and that made it so much easier for me. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 50-80 euros a week |
