University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Semester in Cyprus

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The experience was certainly worthwhile; I found myself looking forward to each new day in Cyprus knowing education and adventure awaited me simultaneously. I learned about Cypriot customs and even larger elements of Mediterranean culture that only a lived experienced could provide, which I am eternally grateful for.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Not as academically rigorous as my home university, but the classes were still engaging.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff were always attentive and went out of their way to aid us in adjustment and accommodations.

* Housing:

The housing was similar to that of a luxury studio apartment and the amenities were fantastic.

* Food:

Food was not provided by the university with the exception of dinner, but groceries were cheap and readily accessible.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

City trips were frequently arranged and educational seminars about Cypriot culture were given to us.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Healthcare was accessible if needed, but the policy could have been elaborated on more.

* Safety:

Nearly every location was safe and great precautions were taken to ensure this.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Global Semesters provided me with an opportunity to study in the most serene environment possible. I was immersed in the rich history of Cyprus while also enjoying a contemporary island-style social climate. The program made great efforts to show us all of what Cyprus has to offer, and while not always as rigorous, still managed to provide an engaging educational experience.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
