A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The food.
  • The landscapes.
  • The opportunity to explore on our own from time to time.
* What could be improved?
  • Communication
  • Making students aware of the health concerns that we would face while visiting the Roma community.
  • Organization of events, schedules, financial issues, and people while abroad.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that the organization of different events and just overall knowledge of what we were doing and what we should expect is something that I would have known about before going on the program. Specifically, the outreach project done in the Roma village in Romania. We were not told of the specific health risks (like tuberculosis, chicken pox, lice, and staph infection) that were very obviously prevalent in this community. We spent 5 months on campus planning for our outreach program to this community and we were never told of the specific health risks like these in order to prepare and pack proper clothing, shoes, etc.
